BigHeartCards.com's Commitment To Make A Difference

We founded Big Heart Cards in the belief that business should be about more than just making money, it should also be about making the world a better place.

When our customers register with us, we let them choose a charity that will benefit proportionally from the cards they purchase from us.  While we can’t offer every charity as a choice (there are a lot of worthy causes out there), we do offer a list of over thirty charities that serve a variety of worthy causes for our customers to choose from.  Registered customers can change their charity selection at any time if they like.

Also, we believe that when people do good things, other people should know about it.  That’s why we print the name of our customers’ selected charity on the back of every card that is sent.

We set aside 10% of our monthly profits to go to our partner charities, and write checks to those agencies quarterly.  Our donations are divided proportionally among our partner agencies based on the number of cards sold and the charity selections of our customers who bought those cards.

For example, let’s say our monthly donation was $1,000, and we sold 1,000 cards that month.  If 300 of those cards were sent by customers who chose The American Cancer Society as their charity, then we would set aside $300 for that agency, and would include those funds in the check we sent them at the end of the quarter.

By the way, we are a new company, and new companies aren’t always profitable.  So, in quarters where we break even or lose money, we will still set aside at least $100 for charitable donations.

Oh, and one more thing.  We believe that good businesses are environmentally friendly.  We have taken some steps toward being good environmental stewards, but we recognize that we can do better.  In the coming year, our goal is to greatly reduce or eliminate our carbon footprint by investing in wind credits to offset our energy usage and, possibly (if we make a little money to afford it) by investing in our own solar panels to generate our own clean power.
